Where can I see the USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway, a aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy, was the first to be commissioned after the end of World War II. Active in the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm, she is currently a museum ship at the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, in San Diego.
Since being opened to the public in 2004, visitors may tour the ship's bridge, flight deck, hangar deck, mess deck, primary flight control, Tactical Flag Command Center, enlisted and junior officer quarters, the captain's and admiral's quarters, sickbay, and an engine room. Additionally, several restored aircraft are on display on the hangar deck and on the flight deck. Self-guided audio tours are provided with admission. It's an opportunity to explore more than 60 exhibits with a collection of 27 restored aircraft.
Those who dare can "take to the sky" aboard one of three flight simulators. Live the life of an aviator aboard the USS Midway. Launch off the flight deck, engage the enemy and then return safely.
The USS Midway Museum features the Fantail Café — offering a family-pleasing menu. For those who want the real "grub," look for menu items made from USS Midway's 1945 cook book. Take home USS Midway memorabilia by visiting the museum's gift shop, located on the hangar deck where sailors once repaired jet engines.
Tours of the USS Midway are for all ages. The New Family Audio Tour is perfect for the little skippers. Families can follow Airman Sam Rodriguez as they take youngsters on an amazing and entertaining audio tour to more than 30 locations throughout the aircraft carrier.
The USS Midway Museum is dedicated to a complete experience for all guests. Approximately 60 percent of the museum's exhibits are wheelchair accessible. Complimentary, loaner wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
